ooc: Rose and Her Involvement with Torchwood
When I started up in desperatescreen I had Rose set at the end of Season One of the new adventures of Doctor Who. Why did I do this? Because at the time the only other Who character active was Mickey Smith and he was set at the same place. In addition to that, S1 had just been released to DVD boxset while S2 was still a ways in coming.

So I hadn't seen S2 as much as I wanted to be able to play Rose as such.

As we went on we had more characters join. Among these were the Tenth Doctor, Jake Simmonds and Jackie Tyler who were set at the end of S2. By this time S2 had come out to DVD in America and I devoured it, refreshing myself on Rose's character. By popular opinion I moved Rose to her "proper" timestream. Meaning? End of S2.

It is CANONICALLY stated that Rose joined Torchwood after being separated from the Doctor.

Want proof?:
Rose: Yeah, I'm... I'm back working in the shop.
The Doctor: Oh, good for you.
Rose: Shut up. No, I'm not. There's still a Torchwood on this planet, it's still open for business. I think I know a thing or two about aliens.

There. Rose + Torchwood = CANON.

That being said, I do not expect Rose to be involved in much field work. Especially since in her timeline she'd only have been with Torchwood for four months and ...hello. Jackie? Like she'd let her daughter be involved in too much. This is Torchwood One. They're professional, neat, precise. I love Torchwood Three. But they are NOT professional, neat, or precise. It wouldn't be a fun show if they were.

Rose likely works a desk job; research and phone calls, reports and whatever else goes along with it. She is NOT Jack. She never WILL be Jack. She's Rose. She has no control over Torchwood. Her influence is probably "Well my Daddy..." and she doesn't think she's in control. She just works there.

Personally? I don't feel comfortable in messing much with Rose's involvement with Torchwood since it's all off-screen. The last two paragraphs are based solely on my personal opinions and used for desperatescreen to clear up any issues that may exist. If one day Doctor Who comes out and says what Rose has been up to? I'll edit accordingly but otherwise? This is what I have.

I understand some people are really ticked off about Torchwood!Rose. That is unacceptable. Uncomfortable? Go ahead. But ultimately? It's canon. Rose is a part of Torchwood One and if I have her set where her mother, father, teammate, and the Doctor are set this is true.

This is being posted to help others see where I intend to go with it. I'm just going off of canon. And I always will.
